An inconvenient truth is that members of the Bush Adminsitration, including Colin Powell, implicitly supported Saddam Hussein's gassing of the Kurdish civilians in Halabja. Much of Washington assumes that leaving Iraq will lead to a bigger bloodbath. It's time to question that assumption. and listen to a discussion of the benefits of the surge What should we say about a regime that routinely deprives people of their livelihood for speaking out freely on public issues? What should we say about a place where citizens are forced to listen to propaganda -- or where voters have to run a gantlet of armed police to enter a voting booth? How should we describe a system that distributes bribes, spies on dissidents and threatens everyone who dares to vote the "wrong" way with the direst possible consequences? That regime exists. It is America today. Flying saucers and George W. Bush: Once George Bush has got hold of a bad idea he just can't let it go Read the October 2002 War Resolution here. How the Republicans poison politics. By Jacob Weisberg
During every crisis in our country's history, there were a few who displayed those characteristics of courage, determination, and leadership to help us overcome the then current danger. Since September 11, 2001, they have been there for America, risking careers, families, and reputations by standing up for truth and justice. They are the 101st Fighting Keyboarders and this is their story. The Story of the 101st Fighting Keyboarders home page.
This election year has brought us some entertaining political commercials. Here are three of my favorites. The first one is from the Ned Lamont campaign and speaks to the issue of the habit of the Republicans to spread fear across the land. Why, they have even made us afraid of common bathroom items like toothpaste, mouth wash, and tweezers. Are you scared or are you just fed up? The second one is from the Democratic National Committee and speaks to the issue of "Stay the Course" by letting the Republicans speak for themselves. The third one is from the Victoria Wulsin for Congress campaign and speaks to the issue of Republicans accusing others of being cowards and unpatriotic while their policies damage veterans at home and leave our country less secure. Send men and women off to war and stab them in the back when they return. Remember, on November 7, You're the Decider. Vote on November 7.
